ZESTORETIC (lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide) is indicated for: • The treatment of essential hypertension in patients for whom combination therapy is appropriate. ZESTORETIC is not indicated for initial therapy (see 4 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION).

Patients in whom lisinopril and diuretic are initiated simultaneously can develop symptomatic hypotension (see 9 DRUG INTERACTIONS). ZESTORETIC is not indicated for the treatment of renovascular hypertension (see 7 WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS, Hypotension).

INDICATIONS AND USAGE

Lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide tablets are indicated for the treatment of hypertension, to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure lowers the risk of fatal and non-fatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions.

These benefits have been seen in controlled trials of antihypertensive drugs from a wide variety of pharmacologic classes including lisinopril and hydrochlorothiazide. Control of high blood pressure should be part of comprehensive cardiovascular risk management, including, as appropriate, lipid control, diabetes management, antithrombotic therapy, smoking cessation, exercise, and limited sodium intake.
