Geriatrics (> 65 years of age) In general, dose selection for an elderly patient should be cautious, usually starting at the low end of the dosing range, reflecting the greater frequency of decreased hepatic, renal, or cardiac function, concomitant disease or other drug therapy.
Pediatrics (<18 years of age) DALMACOL is not indicated for use in patients younger than 18 years of age because of the risk of opioid toxicity due to the variable and unpredictable metabolism of hydrocodone to hydromorphone and because the benefits of symptomatic treatment of cough do not outweigh the risks for use of hydrocodone in these patients (see also CONTRAINDICATIONS, WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS, Respiratory, Special Populations, Pediatrics; and DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION).
