INDICATIONS AND CLINICAL USE FIRMAGON® (degarelix) is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist (blocker) indicated for testosterone suppression in patients with advanced hormone-dependent prostate cancer in whom androgen deprivation is warranted.
Approval of FIRMAGON for prostate cancer is based on testosterone suppression to castrate levels. Evidence of palliation or prolongation of survival has not been established for FIRMAGON in prostate cancer. Geriatrics (>65 years of age) The patient population tested in the clinical program was typical of the intended target population of patients with prostate cancer.
