Uses
Schizophrenia VRAYLAR (cariprazine) is indicated for: • the treatment of schizophrenia in adults. In controlled clinical trials, VRAYLAR was found to improve both positive and negative symptoms. Bipolar I disorder VRAYLAR is indicated as monotherapy for: • Bipolar Mania: acute management of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults, and • Bipolar Depression: acute management of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults.
The efficacy of VRAYLAR for long-term use has not been systematically evaluated in controlled studies for bipolar mania and depression (See 14 CLINICAL TRIALS). The physician who elects to use VRAYLAR for extended periods should periodically re-evaluate the long-term usefulness of the drug for the individual patient.
1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (< 18 years of age): No data are available to Health Canada; therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use. 2 Geriatrics Geriatrics: VRAYLAR is not indicated in elderly patients with dementia.
