Uses
Anagrelide is indicated for the reduction of elevated platelet counts in at risk essential thrombocythaemia (ET) patients who are intolerant to their current therapy or whose elevated platelet counts are not reduced to an acceptable level by their current therapy.
An at risk patient An at risk essential thrombocythaemia patient is defined by one or more of the following features: • > 60 years of age or • a platelet count > 1000 x 109/l or • a history of thrombo-haemorrhagic events.

pms-ANAGRELIDE (anagrelide hydrochloride capsules) is indicated for: • Treatment of patients with thrombocythemia secondary to myeloproliferative neoplasms to reduce the elevated platelet count and the risk of thrombosis and to ameliorate associated symptoms, including thrombo-hemorrhagic events.
pms-ANAGRELIDE is intended for chronic usage and has not been evaluated for treatment of the acute life-threatening complications of thrombocytosis. 1 Pediatrics The safety and efficacy of anagrelide hydrochloride in patients under 16 years of age have not been established.
Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use. 2 Geriatrics The safety and effectiveness of anagrelide hydrochloride have not been evaluated in studies specific to the elderly. Health Canada has not authorized an indication for geriatric use.
