Uses
Fungal infections of the skin caused by Trichophyton (eg. T. Mentagrophytes, T. Verrucosum, T. Violaceum), Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum. Yeast infections of the skin, principally those caused by the genus Candida (eg. C.
albicans). Pityriasis (tinea) versicolor due to Pityrosporum orbiculare (also known as Malassezia furfur).

T. rubrum, T. mentagrophytes, T. verrucosum, T. violaceum), Microsporum canis, Epidermophyton floccosum. • the treatment of onychomycosis (fungal infection of the nail) caused by dermatophyte fungi. ▪ Prior to initiating treatment with APO-TERBINAFINE tablets, appropriate nail or skin specimens should be obtained for laboratory testing (KOH preparation, fungal culture, or nail biopsy) in order to confirm the diagnosis of onychomycosis or dermatomycosis.
• may be considered for the treatment of severe tineal skin infections (tinea corporis, tinea cruris and tinea pedis) which have been unresponsive to topical treatment.
Note:
APO-TERBINAFINE is not effective in pityriasis versicolor (also known as Tinea versicolor). 1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (< 18 years of age): No data are available to Health Canada; therefore, Health Canada has not authorized an indication for pediatric use.

1 INDICATIONS AND USAGE Terbinafine tablets are indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail due to dermatophytes (tinea unguium). Prior to initiating treatment, appropriate nail specimens for laboratory testing [potassium hydroxide (KOH) preparation, fungal culture, or nail biopsy] should be obtained to confirm the diagnosis of onychomycosis.
Terbinafine tablets are an allylamine antifungal indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail due to dermatophytes (tinea unguium).
