The indications have been granted on the basis of similarity between ADMELOG and the reference biologic drug, HUMALOG. ADMELOG (insulin lispro injection), is indicated for the treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus who require insulin for the maintenance of normal glucose homeostasis.
ADMELOG insulin is also indicated for the initial stabilization of diabetes mellitus. ADMELOG (insulin lispro injection) is a short acting insulin analogue and is for use in conjunction with a longer acting insulin, except when used in a subcutaneous insulin infusion pump.
1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (3 to 18 years of age): Based on the data submitted and reviewed by Health Canada, the safety and efficacy of ADMELOG in pediatric patients has been established. Therefore, Health Canada has authorized an indication for pediatric use (see 7 WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS).
2 Geriatrics Geriatrics: Evidence from clinical studies and experience suggests that use in the geriatric population is associated with differences in safety or effectiveness (see 7 WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS).
