Uses
Cidofovir is indicated for the treatment of CMV retinitis in adults with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and without renal dysfunction. It should be used only when other medicinal products are considered unsuitable.

Mar-Cidofovir is indicated for the treatment of cytomegalovirus (CMV) retinitis in adult patients having acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). 1 Pediatrics Pediatrics (< 18 years of age): The safety and efficacy of Mar-Cidofovir has not been established in these patients.
Use is not recommended in pediatric patients. 2 Geriatrics Geriatrics (> 60 years of age): The safety and efficacy of Mar-Cidofovir has not been established in these patients. Since elderly patients frequently have reduced glomerular function, particular attention should be paid to assessing renal function before and during administration of Mar-Cidofovir.
