PARALINK is a brand name for Acetaminophen (also known as Paracetamol). The medicine, its uses, side effects and dosage are the same regardless of brand.
Used for: For the treatment of mild to moderate pain and pyrexia. The suppositories may be particularly useful in patients unable to take oral forms of Paracetamol e.g. post- operatively or with nausea and vomiting.

Adverse effects of paracetamol are rare but hypersensitivity including skin rash may occur. Very rare cases of serious skin reactions have been reported. There have been a few reports of blood dyscrasias including thrombocytopenia and agranulocytosis but these were not necessarily causally related to paracetamol.

Care is advised in the administration of paracetamol to patients with severe renal or severe hepatic impairment. The hazard of overdose is greater in those with non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
Patients should be advised not to take other paracetamol-containing products concurrently. If symptoms persist, consult your doctor. If HAGMA due to pyroglutamic acidosis is suspected, prompt discontinuation of paracetamol and close monitoring, is recommended. The measurement of urinary 5-oxoproline may be useful to identify pyroglutamic acidosis as underlying cause of HAGMA in patients with multiple risk factors.
